World series 1 game highlights

After Freddie Freeman’s walk-off grand slam highlighted Game 1, defense took the spotlight in Game 2 as Yoshinobu Yamamoto shined in his World Series debut, leading the Dodgers to a 4-2 win over the New York Yankees.< don johnson blackjack movie /p>

Who are the starting pitchers?Dodgers: RHP Walker Buehler (1-6, 5.38 ERA in the regular season)Buehler’s regular season didn’t go as expected once he returned from a second Tommy John surgery, but the right-hander has had a strong postseason for the Dodgers. Buehler’s final line against the Padres in NLDS Game 3 looks worse than his overall performance. He then bounced back in a pivotal Game 3 in the NLCS, tossing four scoreless innings against the Mets.

• The Dodgers and Yankees had a World Series preview June 7-9 at Yankee Stadium, with Los Angeles winning two of the three games. Teoscar Hernández had a go-ahead, two-run double in the 11th inning of the first game, a 2-1 Dodgers win, then hit two homers in an 11-3 rout the next night. The Yanks salvaged the finale with a 6-4 win, powered by Trent Grisham’s three-run homer off Tyler Glasnow.

Buehler, who enjoys pitching in cold weather, is 3-4 with a 3.25 ERA in 17 career postseason starts. He’s allowed just one run and five hits with 17 strikeouts over 13 innings in two previous World Series outings, in 2018 against Boston and 2020 vs. Tampa Bay — both in Game 3.

The two teams with the best records in baseball, two legendary franchises, both rich with history and controversy, will take the field to claim the 2024 World Series title. But, in the court of public opinion, the entire country is divided.

Yankees: The Yankees had to backfill Game 2 after Carlos Rodón registered only 10 outs. Jake Cousins (21 pitches), Tim Hill (14 pitches), Clay Holmes (23 pitches), and Mark Leiter Jr. (9 pitches) were all used, but an off-day between games helps. Cousins and Holmes also pitched in Game 1.

Additionally, this World Series was contested between the two eventual winners of the most valuable player (MVP) awards in their respective leagues: Aaron Judge of the Yankees and Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers. This was the first World Series since 2012 (when Buster Posey of the San Francisco Giants faced Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers) to feature the two league MVPs from that season. Judge won the American League (AL) MVP Award in 2022, while Ohtani won two AL MVP awards unanimously with the Los Angeles Angels in 2021 and 2023. During the 2024 regular season, Judge hit 58 home runs while Ohtani hit 54 during his 50–50 season, meaning that this is the first time in Major League Baseball history that two batters who hit 50 home runs in the same regular season are playing against each other in the World Series. Because of the renewal of the rivalry between the two storied franchises, and the World Series debuts of both Ohtani and Judge, many regarded the matchup as a “dream” World Series in the lead-up to the event.

• Freeman’s grand slam was the third walk-off home run while trailing in World Series history. The other two are homers that fans would recognize by name alone: Joe Carter’s, in 1993 Game 6 for the Blue Jays against the Phillies, and Kirk Gibson’s, in 1988 Game 1 for the Dodgers against the A’s.

The Dodgers failed to score a run in the bottom of the first but they must be happy to see that from Freddy Freeman. The first baseman has only seven hits in 32 at-bats this postseason (.219 average) and just drilled a triple down the left-field line.

2001 world series 7 game

Craig Counsell reached base on an error when Clemens couldn’t handle first baseman Tino Martinez’s throw in the first. Luis Gonzalez’s groundout moved Counsell to second. But Clemens struck out Matt Williams to end the frame. Arizona had two more baserunners in the second after Bautista walked and Grace singled. But Clemens struck out the next two batters to end the threat. Clemens continued to shut down Arizona through the fifth, picking up eight strikeouts along the way.

That gave Arizona a 3-1 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth, when Kim was tasked with facing the top of the New York order. Paul O’Neill singled with one out before Tino Martinez hit a two-out, two-run homer to tie the game and ignite the crowd. Rivera had no trouble in the top of the 10th before Kim again emerged from the visitor’s dugout for the bottom of the inning. This time, it was Jeter with the late-innings heroics, as he homered for the walk-off victory, earning him the nickname of Mr. November.

As the bullpens — including Johnson for four batters a night after starting Game 6 — kept it close, that left the D-backs down a run in the ninth against Rivera, who was in for a two-inning save. He struck out the side in the eighth but ran into trouble immediately in the ninth. Mark Grace singled to lead off the inning and pinch-runner David Dellucci advanced to second on a Rivera throwing error the next play. With men on first and second and one out two batters later, Tony Womack doubled to right field to score Midre Cummings. Jay Bell, who bunted into a fielder’s choice putout two batters earlier, moved to third. After Rivera hit Craig Counsell to load the bases the following at-bat, Gonzalez blooped a single to center for the game-winning walk-off hit.

November 4, 2001. It’s game seven of the World Series between the New York Yankees and Arizona Diamondbacks. With the nation rallying behind them, the Yankees are on the brink of winning their fourth straight World Series, but Curt Schilling and the D’Backs have other plans.

Rain world game

There’s a specific moment of my first playthrough of Rain World that I remember vividly – The rain had arrived. I was in a region with a high degree of verticality, and I had to go upward to reach the only shelter I knew of. As I tried to make my way back, my path was blocked by multiple lizards – I had no choice but to flee. However, with the rain beating down on the slugcat, its agility was greatly reduced, and I plummeted downward, expecting to die. I barely managed to survive by hanging onto a pole, and knowing I couldn’t possibly climb back up, I kept going downward, half jumping and half falling. By sheer accident, I traversed enough screens to find another shelter before the rain finished off the slugcat.

Rain World is a metroidvania where the main goal is to explore the world and find your way back to your family while surviving the fierce outdoors, except that task is way, way, way easier said than done. If I may be frank, the original experience I had with Rain World when booting the game up pre-launch on Switch was immediately fumbling around, running into a group of enemies I was too slow to dodge, and then getting annihilated by predators. Cue life events a few months later shooting this into the deep end of my review queue.

When it rains, which it does a fair bit – hence the Rain World title – you’ll be left to find shelter, as you look to hibernate. Yet as you progress through this adventure you will learn to grab objects, action small jumps, and throw projectiles at things. You’ll also get to repel creatures that are attacking you. If you do die, and you will, you lose a karma score that stops you from entering certain areas, but keep with Rain World and it very soon immerses you, particularly as you understand the controls and pace. In fact, it becomes pretty relaxing. At least as relaxing as a game in which you face certain death, pretty much every minute. There is a ton to take in here though, loads of exploring and the chance to take in a variety of areas, all as you look to spend hours in this rainy world.

This was not a moment of triumph; I entered that shelter beaten down, off course, and lost. The only rewards for the whole ordeal were survival and more uncertainty. Nevertheless, I felt a surge of pride in the slugcat. This clunky, vulnerable creature had barely survived — yet it had. Its body, though not naturally adept at high-pressure platforming, had gotten the job done. It dawned on me that this whole time, my human body had been doing the same. My legs, whether they were running or limping, still carried me. My arms, whether I was standing or sitting, still reached for me. And my body, whether it recovered or not, was still mine. This body had taken me through a car crash, and it will keep getting the job done through countless more terrors and joys.

No upgrade no abilities. The solo goal is to avoid predators and reach the next area? And there isn’t combat nor boss fight.Areas are ok but not gorgeous colourful.I’m not saying it has to be a MV by introducing combat, bosses. Exploration is the biggest attraction for me in MV so games like afterimage though story is trash dialogues are cringy but expending map discovering new biomes while gaining rewards (weapons armours charms abilities)are extremely fun.Is there any backtracking in rain world? Doesn’t look like so, since there aren’t treasures to find so what’s the purpose of backtracking.
