My wife came with me, but, as tends to happen with pregnant women, she got hot and tired, so she decided to go home around the sixth inning. She insisted I stay. I did not argue with her.
During the World Series, when the number of credentialed media grows significantly, teams are forced to be creative with media seating, creating auxiliary press boxes that are usually situated down the lines. While some in my profession will gripe about this location, I have always kind of enjoyed the different perspective it provided. And on this night, at this epic Game 6 at Busch Stadium, where the makeshift auxiliary press box was similarly situated in the suites overlooking the right-field corner, the sideways sightline turned into a front-row seat for history.

College world series game
The College World Series started last week with eight teams, but Virginia, NC State, North Carolina, Kentucky, Florida State and Florida were knocked out before Tennessee and Texas A&M advanced to the finals.
Alec Makarewicz hit a two-run home run to cut Florida’s lead to just one run, but Tyler Shelnut’s solo home run in the fifth gave the Gators all the offense they would need. Cade Fisher was first out of the bullpen and allowed three runs across four gritty innings, but the duo of Jake Clemente (1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K) and Brandon Neely (3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K) combined to fire four-straight shutout innings to slam the door.
It was an incredible season from end-to-end for the Volunteers. Not only were they the first No. 1 overall seed to win the National title since Miami in 1999, but their 60 total wins are the most for a CWS champion since 1989.
The Volunteers earned their first baseball national championship, defeating the Texas A&M Aggies 6-5 in Game 3 of their best-of-three finals series on Monday at the Men’s College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
The event’s official name was changed to “Men’s College World Series” no later than 2008. The most recent hosting agreement between the NCAA and the city of Omaha and related entities, signed in that year, states, “The official name of the shall be the NCAA Men’s College World Series”. However, as of October 2021, the CWS logo still appeared on the NCAA’s official D-I baseball tournament bracket, and on the front page of the NCAA’s official CWS website, without the word “Men’s”. The NCAA has since added “Men’s” to the event’s logo, and both the NCAA and College World Series of Omaha, Inc. (CWS Omaha), the nonprofit group that organizes the event, now consistently use the phrase “Men’s College World Series” to describe it.

Here’s what Gukesh had said after his win in Game 3 at the press conference: “It’s always nice to win a game, also for the first time against such a strong opponent. I think it means more that I got a win in the World Championship, and a very important win. I am happy with many things about this.”
Renowned mental coach Paddy Upton had predicted that Gukesh would excel in the high-pressure environment of the World Chess Championship, despite his young age and him facing the cauldron of pressure for the first time in his career. Upton, who has helped the Indian cricket team win the 2011 Cricket World Cup and the Indian hockey team win the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, highlighted Gukesh’s ability to rise to the occasion in big matches.
